Gertrud Goppel

Gertrud Goppel (born September 4, 1908 ; † August 27, 1989 ; born Gertrud Wittenbrink ) was Alfons Goppel's wife from December 1962 to November 1978, First Lady in the Free State of Bavaria.

Life

Gertrud Goppel came from Lower Saxony (Bad Bentheim). In 1935 she married the then public prosecutor Alfons Goppel. She gave birth to and raised six sons, including the former Bavarian State Minister Thomas Goppel .

She was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit for her services to cultural issues and the cultivation of folk and customs as well as her personal commitment in the charitable and social area .

Gertrud Goppel and her husband are buried in the forest cemetery in Munich , the tomb was designed by the sculptor Joseph Michael Neustifter .
