Gesa Birnkraut (* 1971 ) is a German economist and professor for strategic management in nonprofit organizations at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences.

Life

Birnkraut studied business administration at the University of Hamburg and cultural management at the University of Music and Theater Hamburg. She completed her doctorate in 2003 as an external doctoral candidate with Werner Heinrichs at the Ludwigsburg University of Education on the subject of "Volunteering in cultural institutions in comparison to the USA / Germany". From 2004 to 2011 Gesa Birnkraut was professor and department head for cultural management at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theater in Tallinn, Estonia. Since the winter semester 2011 she has held a professorship for strategic management in nonprofit organizations at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences , which she exercises part-time.

In addition to her teaching and research activities, Gesa Birnkraut is the managing partner of the cultural management consultancy Birnkraut | Partner, which advises companies and non-profit organizations with a focus on culture, education and social issues in all areas of strategic partnerships. In addition, since 2005 she has been chairwoman of the board of the Institut für Kulturkonzepte Hamburg eV, a non-profit association that promotes education and training in the field of cultural management and non-profit management.
