The entire Landgraf-Georg-Straße / Fiedlerweg complex is an ensemble of buildings in Darmstadt .
History and description
The residential complex on the corner of Landgraf-Georg-Straße and Fiedlerweg was built in 1928 and 1929. It was part of a municipal housing program to remedy the existential housing shortage in the 1920s. The design came from the municipal building department under the direction of the architects August Buxbaum and Georg Hoffmann. Stylistically, the corner buildings belong to traditionalist architecture . The two elongated, four- story apartment blocks are connected by an archway . The archway is adorned on the south side by two reliefs that show the removal of hunted game . The two buildings have hip roofs with dormer windows .
Monument protection
The two apartment blocks are a typical example of the traditionalist design language of public rental housing construction in Darmstadt in the 1920s. For architectural and city history reasons, the residential complex is a listed building .
