The entire Maria Plain complex or Maria Plain pilgrimage site is located north of the city of Salzburg in the Bergheim municipality .

The pilgrimage church Maria Plain forms a closed baroque ensemble with the surrounding buildings and chapels . The entire complex is under monument protection ( list entry ).

The individual historical buildings are:

  • Pilgrimage Church of Maria Plain
  • Superiorate building to the west of the church
  • Original chapel east of the church
  • five Calvarienberg chapels (including the crucifixion group) on the pilgrimage route to the church
  • Chapel of Sorrows (with Pieta)
  • Holy Sepulcher Chapel southeast of the pilgrimage church
  • Old pilgrimage route with 15 +1 secret pillars on the way to Maria Plain , which begins in Elisabethstrasse No. 1 (near Salzburg main station ).
  • Column on a high base in front of the main portal with the figure of St. Benedict

natural reserve

The building ensemble is located in a landscape conservation area. There are also two natural monuments here: the "Linde near the Plainkirche" and the "Maria Plain group of trees" next to the Plainlinde Inn.
