Protected landscape element Field trees on the back of the bell

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The protected landscape component of field trees on the bell ridge with an area of 0.8  hectares is located in the urban area of Marsberg southwest of Udorf in the Hochsauerlandkreis . The area was designated in 2008 with the Marsberg landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis as a protected landscape component (LB). The LB is mostly surrounded by the landscape protection area Lean Grassland on Glockengrund . The Glockengrund nature reserve is only partially adjacent to the north .

description

The landscape plan explains the LB: “The LB consists of three limestone beech forests with a maximum size of 0.4 hectares on the northern flank of the Glockenrückens, which rises as a broad hump between Glockengrund and Pansgrund. In this exposed location, the three field trees represent formative parts of the landscape that are visible from afar. The eastern part of the area has relatively few, but strong, tree specimens; In addition to beeches, there is also a double-stemmed pine. It also contains a brick grotto. The other two stands are a little denser, but also so light that a species-rich limestone beech forest herb layer thrives. At the edges there are partially flowing transitions to the adjacent grassland use. Especially in the western part surface can be partially multi-stemmed or overgrown trees take on a previous low forest use close. The shallow hilltop location favors low-competitive herb species, but obviously makes it difficult to rejuvenate the stands. "

Protection purpose

The designation as LB took place:

  • To maintain, develop or restore the efficiency and functionality of the natural balance
  • For revitalizing, structuring or maintaining the townscape and landscape
  • To ward off harmful effects

Like the other LBs in the landscape plan area, the LB represents an outstanding habitat for the ecological performance of the natural balance. It also serves as an element that structures and animates the landscape. The designation serves to ward off real or potential harmful effects through the removal of plants, relief or water changes, etc.

Impairment of the protected landscape component field trees on the ridge of the bell

In October 2019, an application was made to the Lower Nature Conservation Authority of the district by the Association for Nature and Bird Conservation in the Hochsauerlandkreis , as extensive dumpings from heaps of earth were found in one of the three field trees. This is exactly where species such as Märzenbecher and Acker-Gelbstern grow rarely .
