History Prize of the Minden History Association

The history award of the Mindener Geschichtsverein (colloquially also known as the Mindener History Prize ) is awarded to scientists who have carried out outstanding research on history in the area of ​​today's Minden-Lübbecke district. The award is given to scientific work on all epochs and all areas of history. Anyone who deals with history professionally or in their free time can take part. The prize is endowed with 2,500 euros and has been awarded every three years by the Minden History Association since 2001 . The board of the association decides on the award of the prizes on the recommendation of a jury.

The history award of the Mindener Geschichteverein is one of the most important awards in the field of the Westphalian-Lippe regional history. Other awards include the Karl Zuhorn Prize , the Gustav Engel Prize , the Otto Weerth Prize , the Jodocus Hermann Nünning Prize and the Ignaz Theodor Liborius Meyer Prize .

  • 2001 Sabine Wehking (publication of the city of Minden's book of inscriptions)
  • 2004 Wolfhart Beck (dissertation on the Protestant parishes of the Lübbecke church district between the German Empire and the Federal Republic) and Bernd-Wilhelm Linnemeier (book on Jewish life in the city and principality of Minden in the early modern period)
  • 2007 Rainer Hahn (project work on the history and preservation of the Hüffe Castle Park in Preußisch Oldendorf)
  • 2010 Andreas Müller (presentation about the church district of Minden in the time of National Socialism)
  • 2013 Bärbel Sunderbrink (dissertation on the French rule in Minden-Ravensberg 1806-1813, for this also awarded the Ignaz-Theodor-Liborius-Meyer-Prize )
  • 2016 Dieter Besserer for “Jewish Life in the City of Preußisch Oldendorf”; Friedhelm Schäffer and Oliver Nickel for “I had nothing against Germans, only against fascists. The life story of Ferdinand Matuszek. "
