The sociable golden alga ( Monas socialis ) is a species of algae from the group of golden algae . It can be found in standing water with decaying plant remains and is considered common. The species feeds purely on animals.

features

The individual cells are 5 to 10 micrometers in size and spherical. Their rear end is drawn out into a long thread, with which they hold onto documents. They stand together in small groups. There is no eye spot .
