The Association of Breeders and Friends of the Arabian Horse is the breeding association for Arabian horses in Germany. He maintains studbooks for all Arab races for purebred Arabians , Shagya Arabian , Anglo-Arabian , Arabian half-breed and Arabs . With around 2,000 breeders and 1,700 registered breeding horses, it is one of the most important member associations of the World Arabian Horse Organization (WAHO). The WAHO recognizes only one breed association per country. In Germany this is the VZAP. In addition to the VZAP, there is also the ZSAA (Breeding Association for Sport Horses of Arab Descent) in Germany.

history

The VZAP was founded as the Society of Breeders and Friends of the Arabian Horse eV in Frankfurt in 1949 by Arab friends and mare owners who owned a total of 13 horses suitable for stud books. The first president was Gustav Rau . A drawing of the typical Arab mare Koalicija was chosen as the emblem . After the war, the main task of the association was to register existing horses, scattered remains from so-called "evacuation stocks", horses from Poland, Hungary and Weil-Marbach.

The Society of Breeders and Friends of the Arabian Horse joined the World Arabian Horse Organization (WAHO), founded in 1972 . The WAHO brought about the amalgamation of the two German Arab breeding associations, as it only recognizes one association per country. The new association of breeders of Arabian horses e. V. was founded in 1974 in Kassel under the direction of Graf Landsberg-Vehlen , the long-time president of the German Equestrian Association .

In 1969 a second association was founded, the Arab Stud Book of Germany eV Almost 100 breeders joined this new association. The Society of Breeders and Friends of the Arabian Horse joined the World Arabian Horse Organization (WAHO), founded in 1972 . The WAHO brought about the amalgamation of the two German Arab breeding associations, as it only recognizes one association per country.

The first "Arabian Horses" magazine appeared at the end of the 1970s. It was the forerunner of the " Arab Journal ". Since 1973 national and then international Arab shows have been held annually. The show takes place in Aachen. The national championship takes place in "Neustadt / Dosse". The first licensing took place in Verden in 1975. Then it was licensed in Darmstadt / Kranichstein until 1990, when responsibility for the selection of the sire passed from the state to the breeding organizations. The Shagya Arabian European Championship was held in Vreden in 1983, 1985 and 1987, in Hamburg in 1990 and in Neustadt / Dosse in 1994.

The new association of breeders of Arabian horses e. V. was founded on June 29, 1974 in Kassel under the direction of Graf Landsberg-Vehlen , the long-time president of the German Equestrian Association . The new association in turn registered horses in various departments such as thoroughbred Arabian, Arabian breed, Anglo-Arabian and half-breed.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Arab breeders from the new federal states could be integrated with their horse populations.
