El Shaklan (born August 10, 1975 , † January 8, 2001 ) is considered the world's most influential show Arabian stallion bred in Germany to date. El Shaklan was a typey gray with a height of 1.60 m, so he was relatively tall for a thoroughbred Arab.

ancestry

El Shaklan was bred at the Om el Arab stud in Lauterbach. He had 15.43% Crabbet Park blood in his pedigree , including through his forefather Kazmeen.

His dam Estopa was the Spanish-bred ancestor of the Om el Arab stud. The Om el Arab stud moved from the Black Forest to California in the 1980s because there were more mares available for El Shaklan.

His father Shaker el Masri was from Morafic from, one on the state stud El Zahraa near Cairo in Egypt drawn Nazeer -son. El Shaklan was thus 50% Egyptian. The crossing of the Egyptian and Spanish Arabian lines was so successful that the term golden cross was coined.

Stations as a breeding stallion

El Shaklan as the first golden cross was a VZAP elite stallion and a sire of Show Arabs. It was set up for two breeding seasons in England, was exported to the USA in 1982, was set up in Brazil in 1986 and in Argentina in 1993. In Argentina he covered in the Zichy Thyssen stud. He became the father of 864 foals who achieved numerous show successes, including numerous successful stallions and broodmares.

Examples of successful El-Shaklan offspring:

  • Bafran El Shabur (1980), Swiss National Championship
  • Siena El Shaklan (1983), VZAP premium mare, 1997: National Championships Germany / class winner, 1997 Nations Cup Reserve Champion Senior Female (Aachen)
  • Niyashin El Shaklan (1982), three-time South African National Champion Stallion
