Gharib (born April 1, 1965 in Cairo , † autumn 1990 in Gomadingen ) was an Arabian thoroughbred and was a stallion in the main and state stud Marbach .

Gharib was born at the Egyptian state stud El Zahraa . There he fell at the age of five to the then head of the main and state stud Marbach Landoberstallmeister Dr. Georg Wenzler up. He bought it and brought it to Marbach.

In contrast to his time in Egypt, he was now used for breeding. As the main stallion he sired offspring who were successful in various disciplines such as shows, show jumping , dressage , endurance riding and driving. In addition, Gharib was able to establish his own Württemberg and Trakehner stallion line. No other thoroughbred Arabian stallion has managed the latter in the post-war period.

Many of his male offspring were licensed and successfully passed the subsequent stallion performance test so that they were also available for further breeding.

Relatively unexpectedly, he died of heart failure at the age of 25 while running out in the paddock.
