Society for environmental law

The Society for Environmental Law (GfU) is a German scientific specialist society founded in Berlin in 1976 , an association for lawyers who deal with environmental law . The headquarters of the office is now in Kleinmachnow, Brandenburg .

activities

The most important task of the association, besides networking the members, is the implementation of specialist conferences. Once a year there is an annual scientific conference. The documentation of the results is published by the Erich Schmidt Verlag. In addition, if possible, special meetings are held in work teams on special specialist topics.

The EPG is a member of the European Society for Environmental Law (European Environmental Law Association, abbreviated EELA).

Regular activities also include awarding an environmental law prize for monographs (usually dissertations ) in the field of German, European and international environmental law. The main prize is endowed with 5000 euros. The company awards a total of three prizes. In 2004, a jury selected the winners from 23 applicants. The award ceremony took place in the plenary hall of the Federal Administrative Court. The laudation was given by its chairman judge Stefan Paetow .

The chairman of the company is Wolfgang Ewer . Further board members are Hans D. Jarass , Thomas Mayen , Jürgen Fluck , Stefan Paetow, Alexander Schink and Hermann Hüwels .
