Stefan Paetow

Stefan Paetow (born September 9, 1943 in Wittenberge ) is a German lawyer and was a judge at the Federal Administrative Court for 22 years, until he retired in 2008 . Most recently, he was chairman of the judges for the construction and land law , the right of regional planning , the planning law , the road and right of way of the court competent and the right of application and operation of airports 4. Revision Senate.

Life

Stefan Paetow spent his youth in Amberg and Berlin . He studied law and political science at the Universities of Basel , Berlin and Freiburg . He completed his studies in 1966 with the first state examination in law. He received his doctorate from the University of Freiburg in 1971 and passed the second state examination in law in 1972.

He initially worked as a lawyer , but began his judicial career as early as 1972 at the Freiburg Administrative Court . After secondments from 1978 to the Federal Administrative Court as a research assistant and to the Administrative Court of Baden-Württemberg , Paetow became a judge at the Administrative Court in December 1980 .

On October 1, 1986, he became a judge at the Federal Administrative Court. There he was initially a member of the 7th Revision Senate of the Federal Administrative Court, which was responsible for environmental protection law and the right to regulate property issues. October 1993 he became deputy chairman of the 7th Senate. At the beginning of 2000 he switched to the 9th Revision Senate as the presiding judge. At the time, the Senate was responsible for asylum law and asylum procedure law. After this responsibility for the 1st Audit Senate, he also moved to the 1st Senate as the presiding judge. In addition to issues relating to asylum law , the 1st Senate also dealt with business administration law , nationality law and immigration law. On September 20, 2001, he became chairman of the 4th Audit Senate, which he was to belong to until his retirement in 2008.

Paetow is also the editor and author of a major commentary on the Building Code and a commentary on the Recycling and Waste Management Act .
