The law on compulsory schooling in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (Compulsory Schooling Act - SchpflG) was a law in North Rhine-Westphalia for the school system that replaced the Reich Compulsory Schooling Act , which continued to apply as state law until 1966 . It regulated compulsory schooling , especially school enrollment . Compulsory schooling includes the obligation to attend a general full- time school ( compulsory full-time education) and the obligation to attend vocational school ( compulsory vocational school). The last version of the law was published on February 2, 1980. On August 1, 2005, it was replaced by the NRW Schools Act .
