The law for protection against the dangers of passive smoking is an article law on the German federal level for the protection of non-smokers . It was passed on July 20, 2007.

The law on protection against the dangers of passive smoking includes the Federal Non- Smoking Protection Act , which came into force on September 1, 2007, smoking bans for federal institutions and public transport . Furthermore, it includes (through an amendment to the Youth Protection Act ) the raising of the minimum age for the purchase of tobacco products to 18 years at the same time, whereby a transition period for the implementation of technical devices for age control was granted until January 1, 2009 for public cigarette machines. It also contains changes to health insurance legislation with effect from April 1, 2007.
