Damaschino is a synonym for the old white wine variety "Planta Fina", which comes from Spain. Its name is likely derived from the Syrian city of Damascus . It is grown in Sicily as well as in Spain and Romania . The low-acid variety can finesse whites provide and has been mainly in the Sicilian outdoor community consortium Trapani made a name where they in DOC - wine Bianco d'Alcamo is used.
Damaschino has similar synonyms as the Spanish variety Planta Fina de Pedralba . Whether the two varieties are identical is disputed.
