Get the Cat is a blues band from the greater Cologne / Bergisches Land area , which was founded in 1997 by the guitarist Philipp Roemer under the name Dog Party Blues Band . In 2007, after a line-up change on the drums, the name was changed to Get the Cat . For line-up of the quartet belonged until May 2014 in addition to band founder Roemer singer Astrid Barth, drummer Ralph bat and the bassist and songwriter Till Brandt, who after the preliminary dissolution of the band successfully strove for a new formation with other musicians. Keyboardist Noel Stevens was also a frequent guest musician.

After the farewell concert on May 10, 2014 in the Kulturbunker in Cologne-Mülheim , the new line-up with Melanie Bartsch, Uli Brodersen, Till Brandt and Bernd Oppel presented itself to the public for the first time on November 14, 2014 at the Leverkusen music club Topos. At the beginning of 2016 the quartet released the studio album Four with this line-up . Jens Filser succeeded Uli Brodersen in autumn 2016. With him, the band presents their program also unplugged with double bass and acoustic guitar. In November 2018 the CD The Way To My Heart was released on the Osnabrück label Timezone. Hammond player Gero Körner was a guest in the production .

In addition to the blues, there are also parts of other genres in the band's songs, which were written exclusively by bassist and mastermind Till Brandt. The musician said in an interview with the music magazine bluesnews in February 2010: “… in the course of my musical career I have of course collected quite a bit of style on the right and left of the path, jazz for example, but also funk , soul , rock ... is important But to me most of all that our music doesn't get lost in genre clichés , but that we do our own thing, create something new.
