Grain spirit

As grain spirit (also blight ) is called an alcoholic beverage obtained by the distillation of a fermented mash of whole grains of cereals is obtained. Grain brandies refer to grain, grain brandy , double grain and wheat grain. From a technical point of view, however, beer brandy , whiskey , potcheen and sometimes vodka are also made from grain. The term grain brandy is very general. Any type of grain may be used for the production, in contrast to grain brandy z. B. also spelled and triticale . The grain spirits have an alcohol content of at least 35% by volume and show the sensory properties of the raw materials. They must not be blended and / or flavored with neutral alcohol. However, coloring with caramel is permissible if they are aged in wooden barrels.
