Gevaert

Gevaert Photo-Producten, NV was a Belgian photo company . It belonged to the big global companies in the photo industry until around 1960 and was known, among other things, for high quality photo paper , black and white photo emulsions and color films as well as a manufacturer of photo plates for professional photography , for astrographers (see also AGK3 ) and for special applications in physics .

Gevaert was founded by Lieven Gevaert in Antwerp in 1894 and initially only produced photo paper.

In 1964 Gevaert and Agfa AG merged to form the Agfa-Gevaert Group . This merger was the first of two public companies from different European countries.
