Seasoning salts or seasoning salts are mixtures of table salt and spices , dried herbs and other seasoning ingredients such as freeze-dried vegetable granules , sometimes also seasoning , glutamate and flavoring .

According to the principles of the German Food Book, seasoned salt must contain at least 40 percent salt and 15 percent spices.

Seasoned salts are intended to make the preparation of dishes easier by using a ready-made mixture instead of salt and various spices. Sometimes they are also used for seasoning the table.

Common seasoning salts are herbal salt , garlic salt , onion salt and celery salt , universal mixtures such as "Ideal Seasoning" and special mixtures such as tomato seasoning salt (with herbs), chicken seasoning salt or French fries seasoning salt for certain dishes.
