Gewandhaus in Zwickau

Under Gewandhaus or Cloth Hall is understood since the Middle Ages, a hall-like fair or storehouse of Tuchmacherzunft . The name “Gewandhaus” is derived from the merchandise used by the wall cutters , who bought “turned”, i.e. folded cloth , and sold it in sections.

At the same time, the name Manghaus is also circulating - the shortage or deficiency is the dyers' smoothing machine .
