Industry, trade and services union
The trade union for industry, trade and services (Smuv) was a Swiss trade union that existed from 1888 to 2004.
The Swiss Metalworkers 'Association (Smav) was founded in 1888, and in 1915 it merged with the Fédération des ouvriers de l'industrie horlogère to form the Swiss Metalworkers' Association (Smuv). In 1992 the name was changed to the trade union for industry, trade and services and the abbreviation was retained.
Most recently, the Smuv represented almost 90,000 members in the machine , metal and electronics industries , in the watch industry and in a wide range of commercial areas. On October 16, 2004, he merged with the GBI , the VHTL and the old unia to form the major trade union Unia .
