Ghosts , until November 2006 Polanski , before 2001 Prodigal Sun , is a British indie pop - band from London . In 2007 they made their breakthrough in Great Britain with the album The World Is Outside . The album reached number 18 in the British charts , the single Stay the Night came in the UK Top 40 to position 25.

history

The band was founded in 1996 by schoolmates under the name Prodigal Sun in Cranleigh . The members changed at first, including bass player Robbie Smith and keyboard player Mark Treasure who joined the band later. Since 2001 they have called themselves Polanski . It celebrated its first commercially significant success under the name Ghosts , which they have been wearing since October 2006, with the single Music Chair from the EP Tales from Studio Six, which was only released in the UK . The single became iTunes single of the week , and the Guardian also named it single of the week. Ghosts entered the TOP 10 of the BBC Sound of 2007 poll . With the single Stay the Night from the album The World Is Outside they finally achieved their breakthrough. The single made it in March 2007 at number 25, the album on 11 March 2007 at number 18 of the hit lists .

style

The style of Ghosts is most comparable to that of other bands like Keane , Thirteen Senses , The Bluetones or Radiohead . In 2003, when Keane celebrated their breakthrough, they were right after them as the greatest young hopes on the British music scene.
