Giacomo Brodolini

Giacomo Brodolini (* 19th July 1920 in Recanati , Province of Macerata ; † 11. July 1969 in Zurich ) was a Italian politician of the Italian Socialist Party (PSI), which from 1953 to 1968 member of the Chamber of Deputies ( Camera dei deputati ) and 1968 was a member of the Senate ( Senato della Repubblica ) until his death in 1969 . He was also Minister for Labor and Social Security from 1968 until his death in 1969.

Life

Giacomo Brodolini graduated from the University of Bologna with a laureate in lettere . He was originally a member of the Partito d'Azione (Pd'A). In the election of June 7, 1953 , he became a member of the Chamber of Deputies ( Camera dei deputati ) for the first time in the second legislative period as a candidate for the Partito Socialista Italiano (PSI) for Ancona . Between 1955 and 1960 he was National Vice Secretary of the Confederation of Trade Unions, Confederazione Generale Italiana del Lavoro (CGIL). In the election of May 25, 1958 , he was re-elected as a member of the Chamber of Deputies. Between 1963 and 1966 he was the PSI's vice secretary. In the election of April 28, 1963 , he was re-elected for the PSI in the fourth legislative period and, after merging with the Partito Socialista Democratico Italiano (PSDI), was a member of the joint PSI-PSDI parliamentary group .

In the election on May 19 and 20, 1968 , Brodolini became a member of the Senate ( Senato della Repubblica ) for the PSI , of which he was a member until his death on July 11, 1969. On December 12, 1968, he was appointed Minister of Labor and Social Security (Ministro del lavoro e della previdenza sociale) in the Rumor I cabinet and also held this ministerial office until his death on July 11, 1969. During his term of office he began drafting it for the Employees Act (Statuto dei lavoratori) .

His eponymous foundation was in honor Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini established that the consortium of GenPORT heard one of the European Commission in the 7th Framework Program funded project.
