Parliamentary elections in Italy 1963
The 1963 parliamentary elections took place on April 28, 1963 . They were the fifth after the end of World War II and the introduction of universal male and female suffrage.
consequences
Aldo Moro , a leading representative of a left "corrente" (wing) of the DC , took up the post of prime minister and led a center-left coalition with changing cabinets, in which the Christian Democrats, the Social Democrats and the Republicans for the first time since 1947 the socialists were represented again. After the PSI gradually shed its revolutionary legacy from around 1956 and turned to radical reformism (such as the nationalization of essential parts of industrial production and basic supplies), it was also virtually unable to implement this in the government with the conservative camp.
