This election resulted in the formation of a new party naming system. The liberals who were (almost) the only parties before did not even reach 50% this time, despite the merger of the two parties. As in the subsequent elections, there was a coalition. This was the only election until 1924 in which a party achieved an absolute majority. There were various splits shortly before the election from the Liberals, Radicals, Republicans and Socialists.
