Giacomo Di Benedetto

Giacomo Di Benedetto (* 1966 in Florence ) is an Italian jazz and pop singer.

Di Benedetto was the lead singer of various Fiorentine bands in the 1980s. A single by his own band RED was released on the occasion of an anti-racism festival, and in 1992 a cover CD with songs by Led Zeppelin was created .

In 1992 he came to Cologne on a scholarship, where he became the singer of the funk band Choose Me . From 1994 to 1998 he studied jazz singing at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen. He performed with the university's big band and went on a tour of Germany with trumpeter Uli Beckerhoff and singer Norma Winstone . The album La Voce was born from this collaboration . With the song Vattene Via , Di Benedetto took third place at the San Marino Festival in 1986 .

Since the early 2000s, he has been touring Germany with pianist Lutz Potthoff with the Blue Notte program . In 2004 he was appointed lead singer of the Royal Roncalli Orchestra by Georg Pommer , the musical director of Circus Roncalli , and toured with the circus through Germany and Belgium. The CD Teatro Paradiso was created on the tour . In the following year he took part in the recording of the album Controll Yourself as a partner of the duo Cecchini / Pieri .

In 2005 and 2006 he performed with the Roncalli Orchestra as part of the Circus meets Classic series and the production Salto vocale u. a. in Cologne, Dortmund, Munich, Hanover, Stuttgart, Hamburg and Nuremberg. At the end of 2006 he worked on the dance theater piece IL VIAGGIO- La Smorfia della Vita by the choreographer Yvonne Pouget and (as singer of the Bajazzo Big Band ) on the dinner show "Witzigmann & Roncalli Bajazzo", together with Eckart Witzigmann .
