Life

Yvonne Pouget lives in Munich, has been staging since 1993 and is now one of the top German choreographers and dancers. She received her dance training from Ko Murobushi and Carlotta Ikeda. Her comprehensive dance productions have been and are successful at home and abroad. The choreographer, director and dancer Yvonne Pouget has her artistic residence in Munich. She is well known and valued in the international dance scene. She succeeds in a multi-layered fusion between the experiences with the Japanese contemporary theater - especially in the dance expression BUTOH - and the classical and contemporary dance techniques. The result is a highly impressive art of expression that hits the heart - the center of what it means to be human. On the stage as well as in the auditorium, everything is criss-crossed by an emotional thread that maintains a constant tension between the dancers and the audience. Important artists such as the theater and cinema director Johannes Brunner, the baroque specialist Christoph Hammer , the countertenor Christopher Robson or the Italian singer and actor Pino De Vittorio - together with the chitarra battente virtuoso Marcello Vitale - worked enthusiastically for them. Yvonne Pouget has found a complex choreographic language and a completely unique stage language for herself. She realizes theater dreams in which logical understanding is unnecessary, where the sound becomes a gesture and the performance becomes a space in which the audience enters and feels. “A great art” (Schwäbische Post / European Church Music Festival 2008). From 2000 to 2009 she received individual project funding with breaks from the cultural department of the City of Munich .

Her work has a special place in the independent dance scene. They stand for the externally visible, reduced to the essence.

As a rule, she dances the main role in her productions herself. In her productions, this “body language of poetry” developed by her uses in the purest form of metaphysical wishful action: the world of the stage enables what reality fails, permission to build wings for the soul. Pouget combines her own expressive pictorial creations with other fields of art, most recently with the imagery of the sculptor Hélène Yousse, who created the set for her production Hoch oben wide blue in close collaboration with Pouget . In addition, she complements and expands her productions with dancers with mature artistic personalities, who manage to get into their dance language, through video art and live music, voice and acting.

Her clearly formulated artistic mission is not aimed at self-expression - the artist does not work for the applause. In 2012 the artist published a book about her approach to art and the people behind it: Light and Abyss . Blurb:

“I believe that all people long for real exchange, for being recognized as themselves, but that this longing is also associated with a fear that one's own openness will be answered with incomprehension and rejection. I know this fear, my words are my vitality and my cry for life. At the same time they are a plea for a mentally healthy value system, it is the consideration of how a person wrestles with himself for (survival) life, and a report on the helpful hand that can be found at the end of your own arm. The book is what I am. "
