Lutz Potthoff
Lutz Potthoff (* 1964 in Hattingen ) is a German jazz pianist.
Potthoff studied musicology at the Ruhr University Bochum and from 1989 with Thomas Hufschmidt and Peter Walter at the Folkwang University in Essen. He has been a freelance musician since 1994. That year he won the Westfalen Jazz Prize and the Coolibri Cool Jazz Award .
He leads several of his own formations, including Blue Notte with the singer Giacomo Di Benedetto , Carminha with the Brazilian singer Rosani Reis and Fiore d'Arancio with Antonella D'Orio . As a sideman he worked a. a. with Wayne Bartlett , Nils Landgren , Slim Man and Anthony Weedon .
His debut album Personal View was released in 1994 in collaboration with WDR , followed by Windrush in 1997 (with Ameli Langer and Uli Beckerhoff ).
