Skælskør is a town in Slagelse Kommune on the Danish island of Zealand in the Baltic Sea . On January 1st, 2020 the place had 6455 inhabitants. The city is located in the Sjælland region and was the administrative seat of the Skælskør municipality of the same name . This was integrated into the new Slagelse municipality on January 1, 2007 with the "old" Slagelse municipality , the municipalities Hashøj and Korsør as part of the municipal reform .
The Harboes Bryggeri brewery is also located in Skælskør.
Skælskør was the terminus of the Dalmose – Skælskør railway, which was closed in 1975 and on which a museum was held until 2011. Most of the route is now a cycle path. The Skælskør station building is still there.
