Whigfield (born April 11, 1970 in Skælskør ; real name Sannie Charlotte Carlson ) is a Danish singer who publishes records under the names Sannie and Naan .

Career

Carlson studied music, sang in her brother's band and worked as a model before she met music producer Larry Pignagnoli , who formed her into Eurodance star Whigfield - she named herself by the surname of her English teacher. With Saturday Night Carlson made his international breakthrough in 1994. The song reached number 1 on the music charts in Germany, England, Switzerland, Italy and Ireland. The song sold over two million times worldwide. After Saturday Night Whigfield was committed to the music style of Eurodance . The following publication, Another Day , hardly differed from its predecessor. This was followed by more single recordings, with which Whigfield was able to post good to medium chart successes. In 1994 and 1995 she received the bronze Bravo Otto from the readers of the youth magazine Bravo . She had her last big hit in 1996 with Sexy Eyes . After that, she was only able to achieve greater success in her adopted country of Spain, where she had moved into a house with her boyfriend at the time, the rapper Paco Pil. Even going back to an old hit (1999 covered Be My Baby by The Ronettes ) couldn't change that.

In early December 2009 Whigfield released a new ballad called No Doubt . Together with Oral Tunerz, Whigfield released the single To Feel Alive in February 2011 . In June 2011 the single C'est Cool was released . In early September 2012, Whigfield released the single 4Ever . The video was released on September 22, 2012. The album W was released on September 28, 2012.

For the reality documentary soap Saturday Night on RTL II , Whigfield's hit Saturday Night was reissued in a remix version with the German rapper Carlprit . Thanks to its presence on television, the new version was also able to place itself in the sales charts and brought Whigfield another chart success after eight years.

In December 2015, Carlson released the single How Long under the name Sannie. Another single under this name followed in August 2016, In the Morning . The associated video was made in Ibiza in the summer. An EP with remixes by DJs Francois and Low Steppa was released in September of that year.
