Bravo Otto

The Bravo Otto (official spelling: BRAVO Otto) is a prize that Bravo readers have given their favorite stars every year since 1957 by voting. The prize was originally a medal with the image of the fictional chubby illuminator Otto, who was a kind of Bravo mascot. In 1965 it was replaced by a trophy in the form of an Indian , which seemed more attractive in the times of the Karl May films. The Otto is available in gold, silver and bronze. It has been awarded in the following eleven categories since 2011: Super-Band Rock , Super-Band Pop , Super Singer , Super Singer , Super Rapper , TV Star Female , TV Star Male , Cinema Star Female , Cinema Star male , internet star and comedian .

Two further prizes are awarded by the editorial team: Shooting Stars of the Year (for the first time in 2000) and the Honorary Otto for long-standing successful artists (for the first time in 2001, partly also in platinum).

history

From 1957 to 1960, only Otto's were awarded to the most popular actors. From 1960, singers were also honored, and from 1961 also stars of television. Over the years, the categories have been varied, supplemented and some removed or not assigned in the meantime (see the Categories section ).

Until 1972 the prize was awarded at the beginning of each year; in the same year the award was postponed to the end of the year. 1972 was therefore the only year in which two awards were given.

From 1994 to 2010 the Bravo Otto was presented as part of a stage program lasting several hours, the Bravo Supershow - The Gold Otto Award , which was also broadcast on television.

Records and special features

Most of the Otto's won the band Bon Jovi (13, including 7 gold), followed by Pierre Brice and the actor and singer David Hasselhoff with twelve each. " Pretty Woman " Julia Roberts received eleven Otto's. Michael Jackson and Inge Meysel came up with the same number , especially as the actress who played the Mother of the Nation on the Despicable Series . Sandra has so far been the only singer to win five Golden Otto in a row; In total, the singer won nine Otto's.

Pierre Brice won nine Golden Otto awards, most of them for his film role as Winnetou .

The only platinum Otto winners so far are Michael Jackson (1996), the Bee Gees (1996), Thomas Gottschalk (2004), Take That (2005) and Dieter Bohlen (2007).
