Dack Rambo

Dack Rambo (born November 13, 1941 in Delano , California as Norman Rambo , † March 21, 1994 in Los Angeles ) was an American actor .

Rambo was discovered for television by Loretta Young at the age of 21 . He later completed professional acting training with Lee Strasberg . Numerous appearances in television films and series followed, u. a. in the series Cannon , Smoking Colts , Charlie's Angels and the soap operas Another World and All My Children . He achieved particular popularity in the role of Jack Ewing , the long-lost cousin of JR ( Larry Hagman ) in the television series Dallas , which he played from 1985 to 1987. In 1973 he was awarded the bronze Bravo Otto by the German youth magazine BRAVO.

In 1991 Rambo was diagnosed with AIDS , whereupon he retired from acting in order to devote himself entirely to the fight against the disease and public relations work on AIDS. In 1994 he died at the age of only 52.

His twin brother Dirk Rambo, who also worked as an actor in film and television, died in a traffic accident in 1967.
