Joshua Kadison (born  February 8, 1963 in Santa Barbara , California ) is an American pop musician.

Life

Joshua Kadison is the son of actress Gloria Castillo and screenwriter, producer, and director Ellis Kadison. In 1978, when Kadison was 15 years old, his mother died of cancer at the age of 45. He then moved through America and lived, among other things, with an Indian woman.

In 2005 he separated from his long-time girlfriend and later made his bisexuality public.

Musical career

In 1994, Kadison had a hit with Jessie from his first album Painted Desert Serenade . Other successful tracks from this album were Picture Postcards from LA and Beautiful in My Eyes . Rumors that he dedicated Jessie to actress Sarah Jessica Parker and that he was in a relationship with her at the time, he has denied.

His second album Delilah Blue sold rather moderately compared to its predecessor; the only single, Take It on Faith , was way down on the charts. EMI terminated the contract with Kadison. After a three-year hiatus, his book 17 Ways to Eat a Mango: A Discovered Journal of Life on an Island of Miracles and his 5-track EP Saturday Night in Storyville were released on a small label in 1998 , which also released the album Troubadour a year later appeared in a TimeQuake .

Another three years later he was welcomed back to EMI: his last album to date on a major label, Vanishing America , produced by Leslie Mandoki , was released. It couldn't replicate the success of the first. The single Carolina's Eyes was a radio hit, but it turned out to be a poor seller.

With his pieces from Venice Beach Sessions 1 and Venice Beach Sessions 2 , which can be downloaded from his website or iTunes, Joshua Kadison went on a major tour in Germany for the first time in late summer 2006, and the concerts were all well attended.

In the spring of 2008 he brought out another 6-track EP entitled Return of the Dragonfly , and in the spring of 2008 he was again on tour in Germany.
