Peggy Lipton

Margaret Ann "Peggy" Lipton (born August 30, 1946 in New York City - † May 11, 2019 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actress .

Life

Lipton initially worked as a photo model . At the age of 17 she went to Hollywood and received guest roles on several television series . She has also appeared in various television films and starred alongside Kurt Russell in Disney's Civil War drama Mosby’s Marauders .

In 1968 she became known as a hippie private detective in the series Twen-Police (The Mod Squad) . When Peggy Lipton married the musician Quincy Jones in 1974 , she initially ended her career and only appeared once in Return of the Mod Squad . After her divorce from Quincy Jones in 1987, she was back in many TV series such as Twin Peaks and Alias ​​- The Agent . In 1991 she played a role in Michael Jackson's music video Black or White . She most recently appeared in new episodes of Twin Peaks in 2017 , in which she played the character of the takeaway owner Norma Jennings again . Her work includes almost 50 film and television productions.

Lipton has been nominated four times for a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award . In 1971 she received the Golden Bravo Otto for Best Female TV Star in the readers' choice of the youth magazine Bravo . In 1972 she received the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama for Twen Police .

She was the sister of the actor Robert Lipton . With Quincy Jones, she had two daughters, Kidada and Rashida , who are also active as actresses. Lipton died in May 2019 at the age of 72 from complications from cancer.
