Linda Cristal (born February 23, 1931 in Buenos Aires ; born Marta Victoria Moya Burges , † June 27, 2020 in Beverly Hills , California ) was an Argentine actress .

life and career

The daughter of a French and an Italian woman lost her parents in a traffic accident in 1947, of which she was the only survivor. Soon afterwards she was discovered by the Mexican film producer Miguel Alemán Velasco, the son of President Miguel Alemán Valdés . She had to interrupt her career because of a car accident. In 1959 she received the Golden Globe Award for Best New Actress for her role in Vacation Ticket to Paris . In 1960 she played the role of Flaca in the Western Alamo at the request of director and leading actor John Wayne . A year later she was seen partnering with James Stewart in John Ford's western Two Ride Together .

Cristal achieved worldwide popularity through the Western series High Chaparral , produced from 1967 to 1971 , in which she was born Victoria Cannon, born in Mexico. Montoya, the second wife of rancher Big John Cannon ( Leif Erickson ), impersonated. In 1970 she received the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Series in Drama , and in 1971 she was nominated for the same award. The magazine Bravo awarded her the Silver Otto in 1970 and the Bronze Otto in 1972 based on a vote by its readers in the category Most Popular Female TV Star . In 1970 she received a Bambi .

In 1985 she returned to Argentina and took the title role in the Soap Rossé . After that, she no longer appeared in public. She was married to Robert W. Champion from 1958 to 1959 and to Yale Wexler (two sons) from 1960 to 1966. She died in Beverly Hills, California in June 2020 at the age of 89.
