John James (actor)

John James (born April 18, 1956 in Minneapolis , Minnesota ; actually John James Anderson ) is an American actor . He was best known as Jeff Colby in the soap opera The Denver Clan in 1981 .

Life

After a first role on Fantasy Island , John James auditioned for the role of Steven Carrington in the new series The Denver Clan ( Dynasty ). The producers gave the role to Al Corley , but they created the new role of Jeff Colby for James. Although only designed as a supporting role, John James convinced, so that the role of Jeff was given an ever broader framework.

In 1985, producer Aaron Spelling even decided to shoot an offshoot of his hit series. The focus was on Jeff's family, the Colbys from California . World stars like Charlton Heston , Katharine Ross and Barbara Stanwyck were hired for it. Despite intense advertising, the series Das Imperium - Die Colbys was discontinued in 1987. John James was allowed to return to the Denver clan until the glamor soap was finally discontinued in 1989. In the graduation film Dynasty - The Reunion (in Germany: Denver - The Decision ) from 1991 John James played the role of Jeff Colby one last time.

This was followed by various guest roles ( Love Boat etc.). From 2003 to 2004 he then took on a part in the soap opera Young and Passionate - How Life Works . Since 2006 he has played a supporting role in the competitive series All My Children .

Despite the great fame he gained from The Denver Clan series , James refused to attend the Denver Clan Reunion Show: Catfights and Caviar in 2006 , which many of the cast of the time came together to mark the series’s 25th anniversary celebrate and reminisce. In 1985 he also recorded the single Painted Dreams , which reached number 60 in the German charts. It was produced by the pop singer Heidi Brühl , who then recorded a duet single called This Time with him. His daughter, Laura James, took part in the 2012 model casting show America's Next Top Model and became the winner.
