Cimorelli is an American pop group. The group consists of the five sisters Christina, Katherine, Lisa, Amy and Lauren Cimorelli. She became known through cover versions of current pop music and self-written originals on YouTube . Her Youtube channel had more than 5.3 million subscribers in January 2020 and her videos were viewed over 1.3 billion times in total.
history
The Cimorelli sisters grew up with their five brothers in El Dorado Hills near Sacramento , California . Her mother, a composer and former choir director, introduced her to music very early on. In 2002 Christina, Katherine, and Lisa made minor appearances in the area. Amy, Lauren and Dani later became part of the group. The girls also played in some musical productions and thus deepened their dancing and acting skills. They also learned to play different musical instruments . In 2007, the five older Cimorelli sisters founded an a cappella group. In 2010, the family of 13 moved to southern California, to Malibu , to advance the sisters' musical careers, and five years later in the summer of 2015 to Nashville , Tennessee .
In December 2008 the girls released their self-written album Cimorelli . With the video clip of their cover version of Miley Cyrus ' Party in the USA they reached several thousand fans for the first time in August 2009. Among them was a then 13-year-old girl from London, whose mother, Sarah Stennett, represented Sugababes and Jessie J as a manager . She helped Cimorelli get a record deal with Universal Music in 2010 . In 2010 the youngest sister Dani joined and the guitarist Mike left the band. A year later, Cimorelli made his debut on the Social 50 charts of Billboard Magazine . This chart not only shows how often an artist's music is played, but also his or her fan growth in the world's leading social networks . In addition, the Cimorelli sisters won the "Jackson 5 Award for family music" at the 4th Malibu Music Awards 2011.
After Cimorelli had created a large fan base worldwide through their music clips on Youtube , the sextet released their EP The CimFam EP in December 2011 with five cover songs of current pop music ( Dynamite , Price Tag and Skyscraper were determined by a vote by the Cimorelli fans came What Makes You Beautiful and the Christmas carol All I Want For Christmas Is You ) and the self-written song Million Bucks , in the production of which the three-time Grammy winner Theron Feemster ("Neff-U") also participated. The EP , which is only available as a download , made it to number 6 on the US iTunes pop chart in just 12 hours . In the German iTunes pop charts, Cimorelli made it to number 21.
In June 2012, Cimorelli was at the Teen Choice Awards in the category Choice Web Star nomination. In addition, Cimorelli reached position 3 in the Social 50 chart.
On December 11th, 2012, the six-piece band released their second EP, Believe It EP , and reached the top 10 of the US iTunes charts after just 2 hours. The album contains the songs Believe It , You Got Me Good , Wings and a cover of Santa Claus Is Coming to Town . On June 18, 2013, the Made In America EP came out with four songs: Made In America , Wings , The Way We Live and Whatcha Think About Us . Eight months later, the Cimorelli won a Teen Choice Award for "Choice Web Star".
On June 3, 2014, the first of a total of five episodes of her web series Summer With Cimorelli appeared , which could be seen on her channel and on AwesomenessTV. "Behind the scene videos" were also uploaded on both channels. The web series also includes pieces of music that Cimorelli worked on for their debut album. Cimorelli released a new song of their own called What I Do on June 5, 2014 , which was used as background music in an advertisement for Hasbro's new product Doh Vinci. Another song called Everything You Have was released a day later . A new single, Come Over , was also released on August 22, 2014 , and a Twister Dance remix was available three days later, on August 25, 2014. On October 27, 2014, they released the Renegade EP . It contains the songs I Got You , That Girl Should Be Me , Renegade and You're Worth It . On November 24th they released the EP "Christmas Magic EP", which contains 5 well-known Christmas songs that they sing a cappella. Christina and Lisa wrote the harmony parts for this. The following songs are included in the EP: " Joy to the World ", " The Coventry Carol (Lullay) ", "Carol of the Bells", "The first Noel", and " Hark! The Herald Angels Sing ”.
They haven't belonged to a label since 2015 and are independent musicians.
In 2015 they started their first European tour, which took them to Portugal, Spain, Germany, England and Switzerland, among others. In the same year they released the mixtape Hearts On Fire . It contains nine self-written songs. They dedicated this acoustic album to their fans and therefore released it for free.
In May 2016, Cimorelli released their first own studio album, Up At Night , which contains 14 songs. In November 2016 they started their second European tour. In December 2016, Cimorelli released her second studio album Alive , on which there are mainly Christian songs. Sad Girls Club followed in 2017 and in 2019 the Cimorelli sisters also published the book Believe in You: Big Sister Stories and Advice on Living Your Best Life.
On January 4, 2020, the band announced in a YouTube video that Dani Cimorelli was leaving the band to pursue new career opportunities outside of YouTube.

- Christina Lynne Cimorelli, (born August 12, 1990) is the band's founder and choreographer, vocal arrangements, songwriter and occasionally pianist and drummer.
- Katherine "Kath" Ann Cimorelli, (born March 4, 1992) is a bassist and occasional pianist and songwriter.
- Lisa Michelle Cimorelli, (born September 19, 1993) is responsible for the harmony arrangements, as well as music arranger, and drummer, songwriter and occasionally pianist.
- Amy Elizabeth Cimorelli, (born July 1, 1995) is a guitarist, songwriter and occasionally pianist.
- Lauren Christine Cimorelli, (born August 12, 1998) is a rapper, songwriter and occasionally plays the tambourine as a pianist.
- Danielle "Dani" Nicole Cimorelli (born June 15, 2000) was in the band from 2010 to 2020. She was a rapper, songwriter, guitarist and occasionally pianist.
- Michael "Mike" John Cimorelli Jr. (born February 18, 1989) in the band from 2008 to 2010 and was a guitarist.
