Corey Ian Haim (born December 23, 1971 in Toronto , Ontario , † March 10, 2010 in Burbank , California ) was a Canadian actor. He had his greatest successes in the 1980s as a child star and teen idol.

Live and act

Haim first appeared in commercials and on the Canadian television series The Edison Twins , which aired on CBC from 1982 to 1986 . In 1986 he received the Young Artist Award for his performance in the television film A Time to Live . In 1987 he was nominated again for the Young Artist Award for his role in The Lost Boys . With this film began his recurring collaboration with Corey Feldman .

In 1989 Haim received the Bravo Otto for best actor. He celebrated his greatest successes in the mid to late 1980s. In 1995 he recorded his first CD You give me everything . In the 1990s, however, Haim developed an increasing dependence on cocaine and crack , from which he did not fully recover, despite withdrawal measures, until his death. This led to his appearances being limited to small roles in lesser-known films in the last few years before his death.

Haim died on March 10, 2010 at the Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank after a long history of drug addiction of complications from pneumonia and heart disease.

After Corey Haim's death, his film partner Corey Feldman confirmed statements from their reality show The Coreys on child abuse in the entertainment industry in the 1980s in an interview with the ABC show Nightline . Both fell victim to sexual abuse.
