Samu Aleksi Haber [ ˈsɑmu ˈhaːbɐ ] (born April 2, 1976 in Helsinki ) is a Finnish singer , guitarist and songwriter . He is the front man of the Finnish rock band Sunrise Avenue .

Samu Haber's father comes from Germany ; he himself was born in Helsinki and lives there too. He has two siblings and is a fan of the Finnish ice hockey team Helsingfors IFK . In his youth he was the guitarist of the heavy metal band Absurdus. He has been in a relationship with Finnish model Vivianne Raudsepp since 2010 . Samu Haber was mainly inspired by the American rock band Bon Jovi , through which he discovered his passion for music. In 2019 Samu Haber became the godfather for "School without Racism, School with Courage" at the Peter-Thumb-Schule Hilzingen community school.

Career

In April 1992 Haber founded the band Sunrise in Helsinki together with Jan Hohenthal, a Finnish songwriter. The group performed in pubs, festivals and parties. In 1998 Haber moved to Spain. After four years and only a few appearances at private Spanish events, he moved back to Finland. In October 2001 the band name was changed to Sunrise Avenue . Haber is the only original band member besides Raul Ruutu. The current band members (as of 2017) are next to Haber and Ruutu Riku Rajamaa, Sami Osala and Osmo icons. In the summer of 2012, Haber recorded the single No Matter What They Say with the band Follow Your Instinct .

In 2013, Haber was seen for the first time as a coach in the talent show The Voice of Germany . In the run-up, he took two weeks of lessons to improve his German. In the fourth season of 2014 as well as 2016 and 2017 he was on the jury again.

In June 2015 he was seen as a consultant on the ProSieben casting show Die Band . In April 2016 he released the song Tarpeeks Täydellinen together with the Finnish rapper Elastinen . Also in 2016 was the single A Hundred Years , which Haber wrote and recorded with the Finnish singer-songwriter Niila. In 2017 Haber took part in Vain elämää , the Finnish version of Sing my song . With a cover version of Satuprinsessa , originally by Tiktak , he had his first solo hit in Finland. Since 2019 he has been a testimonial of the furniture association Einrichtungspartnerring VME .
