Conrad Christian Hornung (born July 1, 1801 in Skelskör , Denmark ; † June 11, 1873 in Copenhagen ) was a piano maker and founder of the later Hornung & Møller piano factory (1851). Hornung founded his first independent workshop in his hometown in 1827. In 1834 he moved to Slagelse and in 1842 to Copenhagen . In 1851 Hornung was appointed purveyor to the court. He used solid cast frames relatively early (around 1850) to stabilize and accommodate the string tension. In 1851 Hans Peter Møller took over the management of the company.
