Rosani Reis is a Brazilian singer, jazz with Brazilian folklore (from Samba about Bossa Nova , Chorinho , Baiao , Maracatu and Jongo to the music of the Indians) connects.

Act

Reis, who completed a degree in psychology , studied from 1980 in her hometown of Belo Horizonte , singing, piano and acting. Since 1984 she has given concerts, made radio and recordings and toured Brazil with the band Sagrado Coração da Terra . She became known as the interpreter of the title song of the telenovela Pantanal .

In 1990 she moved to Germany, where she studied jazz singing at the Folkwang University . She worked with musicians like Uli Beckerhoff , Bruno Castellucci and Norma Winstone and performed with her own band. Her debut album Cafuso was released in 1992 . In 2001/2 the album Mosaico was created, among others with David Friedman .

In a duo with guitarist Paulo Noronha , Reis performed music by Tom Jobim , Baden Powell , Egberto Gismonti , Hermeto Pascoal and others. She also leads the vocal quartet Chocolate com Laranja (with Yma América from Venezuela, Carolina Riaño from Colombia and Christina Plein from Germany), with whom she has performed compositions by Ari Barroso , Ernesto Nazareth and Milton Nascimento , among others . Reis is a lecturer at the Folkwang University and also leads numerous workshops.
