Hartmut Kracht

Hartmut Kracht (* 1957 ) is a German jazz bassist and guitarist.

Kracht studied in Essen and became known through his collaboration with the Engstfeld-Weiss Quartet , Uli Beckerhoff's La Voce (including the singer Norma Winstone ) and the group Rism by Hans Lüdemann (including the violinist Mark Feldman and the guitarist Marc Ducret ) . In 1990 he received the Music Prize of the State Capital Düsseldorf . A year later, Kracht began working as a soloist, which was documented in 1999 on the pure double bass CD . Since 1993 he has been a member of the quartet Das böse Ding of saxophonist Jan Klare . The collaboration with Klare continued in projects such as Supernova , Autofab and The Dorf . For several years he has been working again with his original instrument, the electric guitar , which he plays in his own trio and in the quartet of singer and author Eva Kurowski .

In 2010 the CD "Hommage" by the Hartmut Kracht Trio with arrangements of songs by German composers such as Friedrich Hollaender , Theo Mackeben and others was released by JazzSick with Stefan Werni on bass and Patrick Hengst on drums. The vibraphonist Tom Lorenz is now expanding the trio.
