Ahmet Bektas

Ahmet Bektas (born January 14, 1967 in Zonguldak ) is a Turkish oud player and representative of world music .

Bektas first played darbuka before he came to oud via saz and guitar. He has lived in Germany since 1981. In his music he combines oriental maqam music with European music and especially jazz . He often performs with his brother, the percussionist Ömer Bektas .

He worked u. a. with musicians such as Rafael Cortés , Jan Bierther , Jan Klare , Peter Eisold , Christoph Haberer and Achim Jarouschek , the Ruhr area orchestra Supernova and the groups Radio Ethiopia , Lamebora , Karibuni and Tan .
