Ralph Beerkircher

Ralph Beerkircher (* 1967 ) is a German guitarist, composer and music educator.

Career

Beerkircher studied classical guitar and jazz guitar at the Cologne University of Music . He was on various radio and CD productions a. a. involved with Gerry Hemingway , Steven Bernstein , Celine Rudolph , Michael Heupel , Moritz Eggert and Sebastian Hess . The fusion of elements of jazz (and here also of Eastern European folklore) with new music was the focus of the work with the group Novotnik 44 ( Udo Moll , Annette Maye , Nicolao Valiensi , Thomas Gier and Dirk-Peter Kölsch ). With his own band, the Ralph Beerkircher Quartet (with Claudius Valk , Volker Heinze and Roland Höppner ) he recorded the CD Morphin in 2001 . With the quartet SchiiiiK ( Stephan Meinberg , Michael Thieke and Christian Thomé ) he won the jazzart 2 competition in 2004 . From this band, Meinberg and Thome then formed the trio Arnie Bolden , which released the CD Diving on metarecords in 2008 . In 2007 jazzhausmusik released the CD Nervous Meditation by the band Ensemble HKS with Christof Thewes , Robert Landfermann and Dirk-Peter Kölsch. He was a member of the Matthias Broede Chamber Trio and worked in a duo with the pianist and composer Peter Fulda .

With the guitarist Frank Wingold he founded the duo shraeng , which specializes in the performance of new music by u. a. Karlheinz Stockhausen , John Cage and Moritz Eggert . Since 2013 he has been playing with Tobias Hoffmann in the Peter Kahlenborn Trio . Here the CD Vesica Pisces was released in 2016 at 8.3 musik . Together with Axel Lindner , Beerkircher founded the acoustic quartet Lindner / Werner / Beerkircher / Landfermann .
