Dirk-Peter Koelsch

Dirk-Peter Kölsch (born January 13, 1969 in Cologne ) is a German jazz drummer.

Life

Kölsch studied at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Arnhem with René Creemers and Joop van Erven until 1995 . He was a member of the Mardi Gras group for a long time and worked with musicians such as Matthew Herbert, Herb Robertson , Ernst Reijseger , Eric Vloeimans , Matthias Schubert and Peter Brötzmann .

Currently he is u. a. Member of Martin Fondses Starvinsky Orkestar , the Underkarl group (with Sebastian Gramss , Frank Wingold and Lömsch Lehmann ), Michiel Braams Wurli Trio (with Pieter Douma ), the Quartetto Pazzo (with Christof Thewes , Rudi Mahall and Henning Sieverts ), the Jasper Le Clercq Quartet and the formation Undertone (with Thewes, Martin Schmidt and Hartmut Oßwald). He participated in recordings of the groups mentioned and performed a. a. in Sao Paulo, Moscow, Montreal, Malta, Istanbul, Peruggia, Oslo, Budapest, Paris, Berlin and Africa.

In addition, Kölsch appears with both classical symphony orchestras and radio big bands, composes and plays music for plays, radio plays and films, and works with actors and authors at readings. He taught as a guest lecturer at several music colleges in Germany and the Netherlands and at jazz workshops.
