Stephan Meinberg

Stephan Meinberg (* around 1969) is a German jazz trumpeter.

Live and act

Meinberg first studied classical trumpet with Hannes Läubin at the Lübeck University of Music and later jazz trumpet with Manfred Schoof at the Cologne University of Music . With an annual scholarship from the DAAD , he studied at the New School University in New York City a . a. at Reggie Workman .

He worked u. a. with the group Heelium (CD god damn 'it dave with Penrose Feast , John Carlson , Sabine Wortmann and Oliver Sonntag ), in Peter Herborn's band Large and the trio Groove Galaxi and with musicians such as Charlie Mariano , David Liebman , Gary Thomas , George Garzone , Robin Eubanks , Henning Berg , Carl Ludwig Hübsch and Matthias Schubert . He founded the Vitamine quintet (initially with Angelika Niescier , Heiko Kulenkampff , Sebastian Räther and Peter Kahlenborn , currently with Claudio Puntin , John Schröder , Sven Kerschek and Samuel Rohrer ), with which he recorded the CD horizontally . In 2003 he was a winner of the Jazzart Festival . He participated in radio and television productions and toured Russia, India and Scandinavia.

Meinberg lives with and works in Hamburg , but is still connected to the Cologne scene and plays in the James Choice Orchestra , for example .
