Peter Kahlenborn (* 1963 in Euskirchen ) is a German jazz drummer, improvisation musician and composer.

Kahlenborn was a student of Mel Lewis and studied at the Amsterdamse Hooge School for de Kunsten until 1990 . At the jazz festival Europhonics 97 he appeared as a guest of the Monday Night Orchestra Rhein / Ruhr with the pianist John Taylor . In the following years he worked with the Modern String Quartet .

In 1999 he founded the group Music by Accident with Achim Kaufmann , Daniel Romeo and Julian Argüelles . He also worked with Ack van Rooyen , Ferdinand Povel , Lee Konitz , Matthias Mainz , Frank Wingold , Bob Brookmeyer , Nikolas Theijs , the Kris Goessens Trio , Mariana Sadovska and others. Since 2007 he has directed the Ensemble News from Wonder (with Julian Argüelles, Kristina Brodersen , Jürgen Friedrich and Christian Ramond ). Currently (2018) has a trio with guitarists Tobias Hoffmann and Ralph Beerkircher .
