Ole Schmidt (composer, 1963)

Ole Sebastian Schmidt (* 1963 in Mainz ) is a German musician and composer in the fields of new improvised music , new music , experimental music and performance .

After taking saxophone and clarinet lessons with Alfred Harth and Christof Lauer in Frankfurt am Main , Ole Schmidt studied “lichte muziek” at the Amsterdamse Hogeschool for de Kunsten from 1986 to 1991 . In 1993 he founded the group "POST NO BILLS" with Chris Weinheimer , Tom Lorenz , Robert Schleisiek and Carl Ludwig Hübsch , which deals with improvisation and indeterminate composition ( John Cage "Number Pieces" "Variations", Christian Wolff "Exercises") . Since 1995 he has also been writing regularly for stage music for German-language theaters ( Berliner Ensemble , Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus , Burgtheater Vienna): for directors Philip Tiedemann and Patrick Schlösser, among others . From 2003 to 2009 he lived with his family in Leipzig , where he and Chris Weinheimer organized the concert series “Systemkritik-Materialausgabe” for experimental music in the LOFFT .

Ole Schmidt lives in Frankfurt am Main and works for the Kassel State Theater , among others .
