Jan Eggert
Knight Jan Eggert was a Dutch landowner and the son of the eminent statesman Willem Eggert . He came from the Eggert family .
Together with his father, he had established a Collegium Theologicum in the Amsterdam Nieuwe Kerk in 1414 . Since the year 1415 January Eggert appeared as Ambachtsherr of Spaarndam and Spaarnland as well as a lay judge in Amsterdam. After his father's death in 1417, he followed him as an army from Purmerend and Purmerland .
He was a supporter of the Jakobäa von Bayern , and in the dispute between the warring parties of the Hoeken (Jakobäa) and the Codfish ( Johan von Bayern ) ( hook and cod war ) he stood against Johan von Bayern and his ally, Duke Philip from Burgundy on. For this reason he had to flee Holland in 1422; his possessions were confiscated and handed over by the victorious Duke Jan to his illegitimate son Jan, the bastard of Bavaria . The lordships were subsequently sold to Eggert's brother-in-law Gerrit van Zijl , who was reconciled with the Burgundian duke.
