Samuel Rohrer (* 1977 in Bern ) is a Swiss jazz drummer.

Live and act

Rohrer was a student of Billy Brooks from 1995 to 1998 and studied at the Swiss Jazz School Bern from 1996 to 1998 . This was followed by studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston with Hal Crook and Ian Froman .

From 1999 he worked as a sideman a. a. with Erik Truffaz , Harald Haerter , Wolfgang Muthspiel , Michel Portal , João Paulo Esteves da Silva , Matthieu Michel , Nya, Charles Gayle , Yaya Ouattara , John Lockwood , Herwig Gradischnig , Philippe Aerts , Joe Haider , Vincent Herring , Eric Alexander , Jasper Blom , Stéphan Oliva , Stefan Lievestro , Tony Overwater , Ellis Marsalis , Malcolm Braff , Reggie Johnson , Mark Levine , Christophe Schweizer , Minino Garay , John Schröder , Frank Möbus , Daniel Erdmann , Peter Herbert and Jean-Paul Brodbeck .

From 2001 he toured Europe with Susanne Abbuehl , with whom he recorded the album April . With Claudio Puntin and Peter Herbert he founded his own band Tree . Since 2004 he has performed with Antonis Anissegos , Kalle Kalima and Danny Schroeteler in the group Lynx . He is also active in the Joyosa group with Markus Stockhausen , Arild Andersen and Ferenc Snétberger . He is co-founder of the Berlin electro / acoustic trio ambiq together with Claudio Puntin and Max Loderbauer . In 2012 he founded the independent platform arjunamusic for the publication of electronic and acoustic sounds on which the two albums by ambiq were also released.
